How the Food Works

Food is on a first come basis and once it runs out there will not be anymore so please be mindful to only get what you can eat. We will also not be using food tokens this year so each trip to a truck an individual can only get one food item to ensure there is enough food for all attendees. "Food truck shopping" will not be allowed so please leave your bags and tupperware at home. Thank you!

Note: to participate in any activities or to receive free food you must have an event bracelet worn and visible. See more details below.
To ensure all students have equal access to event activities and as a thank you to those who made the event possible, the following groups have permission to skip any lines during p-day:
  1. Anyone with mobility difficulties
  2. Those assisting someone with mobility difficulties
  3. Any event staff including resident life and public safety
  4. On duty fire & rescue

Event Bracelets

An event bracelet must be worn and visible to participate in any event activities or receive free food.
To receive your event bracelet, check in at the event entrance table located in the 300s field with your knight card anytime from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Here a staff member will put the bracelet on you . You will not be given a new bracelet for any reason after you are checked in for the day.

Note: event staff has the right to remove any attendees bracelet without warning for disregarding any school policies, disrespectful behavior, or throwing trash anywhere other than the designated trash and recycling bins.

Tips for a Great & Safe P-Day

Drinking is not necessary to have fun at P-Day
In fact, not drinking can make your P-day even more memorable! However, if you are 21+ and do choose to drink please keep the below in mind on how to stay safe while drinking.

SMC Amnesty Policy

"The overarching priority of Saint Michael's College with respect to alcohol and other drugs is to ensure the safety and well-being of our students." In the circumstance of medical emergencies involving excessive drinking and/or drug use, the amnesty policy provides protection for students to reach out to ask for assistance when concerned for their own health or welfare, or that of another student without fear of disciplinary fines or sanctions. If at any point you are worried for your safety or the safety of others please reach out for help from any resident life, public safety, event staff worker, or call switchboard (802.654.2000).

To read the full policy go to: https://www.smcvt.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Code-of-Conduct-2021-2022.pdf; page 19-20.

Ditch the Dumpster
Preparing for MOVE-out

Ditch the Dumpster is a campus-wide landfill diversion event that occurs during spring move-out at St. Michael's College. Our mission is to interrupt the flow to the dumpster and divert as much reusable material as possible--such as food, appliances, clothing, furniture, and many more items--by partnering with community organizations to give the items another life, especially for low-income people throughout Chittenden County. This year Ditch the Dumpster will run May 9-11, 12-5pm for undergraduate move-out and May 15, 1-7pm for senior move-out.

Our goal is to recruit enough volunteers to fill 147 shifts across the four locations around campus. Volunteers will receive cool Ditch the Dumpster t-shirts, snacks, a coupon to ReSource, and treats from local businesses. Click here to sign-up. Chris and Emily are also looking for student organizations (teams/clubs) to commit at least 5 volunteers to be listed as collaborators in the Ditch the Dumpster press releases. With the help of dedicated volunteers to staff the sites and help sort items into the appropriate categories, we can save several tons of reusable material from Vermont's landfills! Contact Kristyn Achilich for more information at kachilich@smcvt.edu.

Thank you for joining us in our final event
